The West Midlands Ghostbusters

Before Fate, Luck & Karma became a home for geek culture, movie chat, fan projects, cosplay, collecting and the occasional wander into the paranormal, it started with three words: West. Midlands. Ghostbusters. The podcast began life as a Ghostbusters fan show, created by members of the West Midlands Ghostbusters franchise as a place to talk about the films, the fandom, the props, the community and the strange little joy of turning up somewhere in a flight suit with a proton pack on your back. Over time, the show grew. The conversations got wider. The guests became more varied. The topics started wandering beyond the firehouse and into the wider world of pop culture, the supernatural, creativity and fandom. But the Ghostbusters roots are still here. They are stitched into the flight suit. This section of the site is our little corner for celebrating where Fate, Luck & Karma came from, the people who helped shape it, and the charity-focused fan franchise that started the whole thing.

Who are the West Midlands Ghostbusters?

The West Midlands Ghostbusters are a UK-based fan franchise made up of Ghostbusters fans, prop builders, cosplayers, collectors and community-minded oddballs who use their love of the films to do something positive. We appear at comic cons, charity events, community days, fundraisers and family-friendly gatherings across the region, bringing screen-inspired props, costumes, photo opportunities and a healthy dose of paranormal nonsense wherever we go. We are also proud fundraisers for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, using our appearances to help support a cause that means a great deal to us.

How it connects to Fate, Luck & Karma

Fate, Luck & Karma was originally launched as a Ghostbusters fan podcast from the West Midlands Ghostbusters. That early version of the show was all about the franchise we loved: the films, the fandom, the gear, the community and the brilliant people keeping the spirit alive. As the podcast grew, it made sense to open the doors wider. The show now covers broader geek culture, movies, fan films, collecting, cosplay, spooky subjects and whatever odd little rabbit hole we accidentally fall into next. The name changed. The scope widened. The microphones stayed haunted.
